When to Inspect the Cover and Ventilation
- Oil leakage or oil mist around the valve cover.
- Burnt-oil smell after warm-up.
- Intake air leaks through the cover or crankcase ventilation.
- Unstable idle.
- Increased oil consumption.
- Whistling, abnormal vacuum or mixture faults associated with leakage.
Check the cover, diaphragm and ventilation system to establish the cause. These symptoms do not confirm diaphragm failure on their own.
Repair Scope
This is the separate valve cover diaphragm, rather than a complete cover. Check the housing, seating surfaces and ventilation pipes for cracks or damage. If the housing is damaged, replacing the diaphragm alone may be insufficient.
