The charge air recirculation valve is installed on the turbocharger and controls the bypass of compressed air in the charging system. When the throttle valve closes, the valve opens a bypass channel, reducing the sudden pressure drop across the turbine compressor. A faulty valve can result in loss of traction, slow boost build-up, erratic acceleration, hissing or whistling noises, and errors related to insufficient boost pressure.
