Function and Fault Checks

The diesel throttle body supports EGR / AGR operation and closes the airflow for prompt engine shutdown. Wear of the original plastic gear teeth can cause a mechanical fault. Throttle faults or a Check Engine warning and loss of prompt shutdown after switching off require diagnosis; they do not prove a gear fault by themselves.

When to Inspect the Throttle Body

• Unstable idle.
• Fluctuating engine speed.
• Delayed accelerator response.
• Throttle position faults.
• Sticking or play in the mechanism.
• Uneven running after contamination or component wear.

Diagnose the throttle body before selecting repair parts; these symptoms do not establish a gear fault by themselves.
