Turbocharger Selection

Listed turbocharger references: 11657636784, 11652681209, 11658643129 and 11658631700. Inspect wear, damage, play and seating of the original wastegate before choosing a repair.

Installation Requirements

Installation requires turbocharger removal and TIG / argon-arc welding equipment. This is a labour-intensive repair; inspect the complete assembly before replacing the wastegate components.

1. Remove the turbocharger assembly from the engine. Engine removal can improve access; removal without taking the engine out is described as possible with suitable skills. Inspect turbocharger play and catalytic converter condition.
2. Unscrew the vacuum wastegate actuator.
3. Mark the old flap position relative to the turbocharger, then remove the old flap using a grinder.
4. Fit the new flap in the marked position. TIG / argon-arc welding equipment is required; weld the lever to the rod.
5. Refit the vacuum actuator. Replace worn vacuum lines and clean or replace the B38 electromagnetic pressure converters.
6. During installation use new oil feed hoses, cooling-system hoses, seals and gaskets.
