This oil separator repair kit is designed to restore the original air-oil separator / crankcase ventilation unit on Porsche Cayenne 4.8L engines. It allows replacement of worn internal components instead of buying the complete oil separator assembly.
With mileage (often around 100,000 km), the oil separator membrane dries out, loses elasticity, and can tear. When the diaphragm fails, unmetered air enters the engine after the MAF sensor, which disrupts air-fuel mixture control.
Common symptoms of a failed oil separator membrane:
• Rough or unstable idle
• Hard starting, possible misfires
• Whistling noise / vacuum leak sound from the oil separator area
• Increased fuel consumption
• Increased oil consumption
Manufacturers typically supply the oil separator only as a complete unit, which makes repair unnecessarily expensive. This repair kit provides a practical and cost-effective solution by replacing only the failed internal parts while keeping the original housing.

After installation:
After eliminating the air leak, the ECU may need a short period to readjust fuel trims. Let the engine run for a while, then shut it off and restart. Temporary unstable operation right after repair is normal during adaptation.
