The diaphragm of the oil trap serves to reduce the emission of harmful elements from the exhaust pipe into the atmosphere. Crankcase gases are composed of engine oil, which is an oil mist. The oil trap separates the oil and gases that go into the intake system, thereby reducing the formation of soot.
If the part is dirty, then the separation of oil from crankcase gases worsens, therefore, oil fumes are formed, and in more advanced versions, the engine ceases to function normally. To prevent this, it is advisable to change the oil separator membrane in a timely manner.
Such a task seems quite simple. Moreover, it can be done independently, without the need to contact an auto repair shop. However, Volvo and Ford car manufacturers did not provide for the release of this spare part separately from the entire kit.
