If the oil separator membrane has become unusable, then it needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Otherwise, the engine will work with violations. A defective part will cause excess air to enter it, which will not be detected by the MAF sensor. Because of this, there are failures in the functioning of both the ignition separately and the motor as a whole. Dust gets into the motor, which spoils it and other spare parts. Also because of this, there is an increased consumption of fuel and oil. If you hear an unnatural sound in the area of the oil separator, then this is a sure sign of the need to change the diaphragm. You can do it yourself.
For the first time after the part is replaced, unstable functioning of the motor may take place. This is due to the abrupt stop of the suction of additional atmospheric air. And in order for the system to start working in a new state, it takes a little time, since the fuel cards of the electronic control unit are adjusted. Therefore, immediately after changing the diaphragm, the engine must be allowed to work in idle mode. Then turn off the ignition and start again. In this way we achieve its functioning in the usual mode.
