How to replace the vacuum pump motor in a Mercedes-Benz
Car owners of Mercedes-Benz W140, W210, W124 often encounter interruptions in the operation of the central lock, namely the failure of the vacuum pump electric motor. This manifests itself in the complete absence of response to commands, and the central lock itself can open or close without permission.
With the malfunctions described above, it is necessary to replace the JOHNSON vacuum pump motor. First of all, you need to unscrew the screws on the housing of the PSE vacuum compressor and open all the latches on the housing. The lower part of the case must be removed and the electrical board in the block unscrewed, then squeezed out of the case with a little effort. Together with the board, pull out the electric motor.
Checking the performance of the vacuum pump motor is carried out under a voltage of 12V, having previously unsoldered the wires from it.
To remove the graphite pump housing, you must first unscrew the 3 screws, then remove the top cover and stator ring, and then remove the graphite plates from the rotor.
Use two slotted screwdrivers to separate the bottom of the graphite pump from the metal housing base, then remove the rotor retainer. If these parts are glued together with sealant, then simply separate them with a clerical knife. Next, you need to carefully remove the lower graphite part of the housing and the rotor with a lock from the motor shaft.
Remember that when replacing the motor, you must maintain the polarity (on the motor, the plus is the red mark). After the procedure, we assemble in the reverse order.
Important! It is worth considering the following points:
- After the procedure for replacing the motor, be sure to check the tightness of the vacuum system (seat pumping tubes, doors, head restraints, hatch, trunk, etc.).
- Also check that the impeller is not jammed.
- There should not be any moisture in the graphite pump, it is very “afraid” of it.
- Watch the duration of the pump - no more than 7 seconds. Otherwise, the spare part may burn out.
The presented central locking vacuum pump motor for Mercedes-Benz (W140, W210, W124) was manufactured in full accordance with the original part. A feature of the spare part is its duration of operation and increased resistance to wear. Due to the identity of all the parameters of the factory spare parts, the mount occurs without any problems or failures in the operation of the mechanism.
