The diaphragm of the crankcase ventilation valve is built into the valve cover of the BMW N13 and N18 engines in the bodies R55 LCI, R56 LCI, R57 LCI, R58, R59, R60, R61. After a certain time, this diaphragm becomes rough, cracks and breaks. In this case, the car starts to work poorly – unstable ignition, sometimes the car does not start at all, there are interruptions at idle, oil and fuel consumption increases, a whistle is heard in the area of the valve cover. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not supply this repair kit to the markets so that car owners immediately buy a new valve cover. How to replace the diaphragm in the cylinder head cover yourself:
This is a fairly simple task, you just need to do it carefully so as not to lose the spring. We remove the engine cover and carefully open the lid, which is on the latches. We remove the old membrane and mount a new one, after which we put everything back together. Before starting the replacement of spare parts, it is recommended to warm up the engine. After you have collected everything back, you need to let the engine work for a few minutes, then turn off the ignition. Then you can start up again and the motor will work normally.
