Installation Procedure
- Remove the turbocharger assembly from the engine. Removal can be easier with the engine out, although removal without taking the engine out is possible with suitable skills. Check N55 turbocharger play and catalytic-converter condition.
- Unbolt the BMW N55 vacuum wastegate actuator.
- Mark the original flap position relative to the turbocharger, then remove the old flap with a grinder.
- Fit the replacement flap in the previously marked position. Use argon-arc welding equipment to weld the lever to the rod.
- Refit the vacuum actuator. Replace worn vacuum lines and clean or replace N55 solenoid pressure converters.
- Use new oil supply hoses, cooling system hoses, seals and gaskets during installation.
