Worm Replacement and Actuator Servicing

1. Undo the two bolts attaching the actuator to the gearbox cover.
2. Separate the motor and inspect the shaft for worn or broken thread sections.
3. Remove the old worm screw. It may need to be carefully cut at its base; pulling it off can damage the drive. Do not damage the underlying motor shaft on which it is fitted.
4. Lift off the remaining section with a screwdriver after removing the upper part.
5. Fit and press the new worm element onto the shaft. Turn it by hand to check free movement.
6. To inspect and lubricate the remaining mechanism, undo the gearbox bolts with an E7 socket and carefully lift off the cover.
7. Remove the two remaining motor screws. Separate the stator from the rotor along its axis; retain the rubber gasket between them.
8. Check the motor brushes. Clean dirt from the components and renew lubricant on moving parts. Reassemble and refit the actuator.
