Breakdown of the BMW popliteal support
The comfort of German cars has become the reason for their popularity. But sometimes it also contains the sources of various breakdowns.
Many BMW car owners heard the prolonged buzzing of a broken mechanism after pressing the popliteal support button and saw a stationary element. Most often, this device fails due to a gear failure.
In the described situation, this is indicated by the sound of an electric motor. So, the drive itself is fine. The motor code of this spare part is 52107068045, 52100309476 or 52107120189. And the support at the same time may not move at all or jerk forward.
How to fix such a malfunction?
Of course, this breakdown is insignificant, but I still want to enjoy all the advantages of owning a Bavarian car. After-sales service offers to buy the entire mechanism assembly in order to eliminate the breakdown. The price of the issue may be more than five thousand hryvnia.
Therefore, it is worth replacing the pinion of the popliteal support. To do this, the necessary part should be ordered in our store. We produce spare parts that are completely identical to the factory elements in shape and size. They differ only in structure. BMW makes its gears out of plastic. But this material is short-lived and subject to rapid abrasion.
This metal does not rust and does not break down due to surface oxidation. At the same time, its safety margin is sufficient for the mechanism to function for a long time. Our gears can "outlive" most parts of your car!
To replace a worn element, it is worth following a simple algorithm:
1. Manually push back the popliteal support. Unscrew the two mounting bolts using the T-30 attachment.
2. Disconnect the seat heater from the connector and remove the soft cover. There will be a plastic plate attached to the clips under it. You can remove it by moving up and forward.
3. Six bolts will open under the plate, which can be unscrewed with the T-25 head.
4. Remove the plastic latches. They should open access to the mechanism.
5. Remove the servo.
6. Unscrew the gear mechanism. It will be positioned perpendicular to the main axis and bolted under the hexagon.
7. Remove the plastic gear of the BMW popliteal support servo and replace it with aluminum.
8. Lubricate the movable elements and assemble the mechanism in reverse order.
As you can see, you can handle the repair yourself and without large investments. Order the right part right now!
