This repair kit is designed to restore the original oil separator (air-oil separator / crankcase ventilation unit) on Porsche Cayenne 4.8L M48.51 engines without replacing the complete assembly.
Over time, internal components of the Porsche oil separator wear out. The diaphragm loses elasticity, cracks may develop, and sealing elements no longer maintain proper airtightness. As a result, the crankcase ventilation system begins to operate incorrectly.
When the diaphragm and seals fail, unmetered air (after the MAF sensor) is drawn into the engine, which may cause:
• Rough or unstable idle
• Hard starting
• Possible misfires
• Air-fuel mixture related fault codes
In addition, a damaged oil separator can allow dust and contaminants to enter the engine, accelerating wear of internal components. A common symptom of failure is a whistling noise or vacuum leak sound near the oil separator area.
Porsche supplies the oil separator only as a complete assembly, which is expensive, while in many cases full replacement is unnecessary. This repair kit allows you to restore the original unit by replacing worn internal components, including the diaphragm, while keeping the factory housing.
Repair Overview:
• Remove the oil separator from the engine
• Disassemble the housing and replace worn parts with components from the repair kit
• Reassemble the oil separator and reinstall it
• Start the engine
After the first start, brief unstable engine operation may occur. This is normal and related to fuel trim adaptation after eliminating the air leak. The ECU may need some time to recalibrate. It is recommended to let the engine run, then shut it off and restart.
After repair, proper crankcase ventilation sealing and normal engine operation are restored.
